Chancellor confirms Autumn Budget date

The government will deliver its first Autumn Budget on Wednesday 22 November 2017.

This will be the first Budget since the Conservative party lost their majority in the House of Commons following the snap general election in June.

Chancellor Philip Hammond previously announced in Autumn Statement 2016 that there will only be one fiscal event each year.

From 2018 there will be a separate Spring Statement which will respond to the economic forecasts from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).

The Autumn Budget will set out the fiscal forecasts from the OBR and tax changes for the coming years.

On the announcement, Hammond said the Autumn Budget was an opportunity to “set out our thinking on how to keep the economy strong and resilient and fair”.
